Meet Ivone
Hola – I’m Ivone and I am a bilingual and bicultural Latinx therapist. I’ve worked with the BIPOC community throughout Chicago for the last 12 years.
I founded Mindfully Serene Psychotherapy LLC to provide quality and culturally sensitive therapy because I believe that access to excellent mental health care is a matter of social justice.
As a Mexican immigrant who grew up in Chicago, I have a passion for working with the Latinx community. I believe you get the best care when you work with someone who not only understands your language but also understands your struggle.
I specialize in supporting BIPOC clients overcome low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, and childhood trauma. I’ve helped hundreds of clients find relief from burnout, anxiety, grief, panic attacks, and family/relationship conflicts.
I work from a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive lens. My main approach is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a brain based therapy that helps people find relief from traumatic and stressful memories. I also use elements of Person-Centered Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness in my therapeutic work.
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Latinx Mental Health from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Latinx Studies. I’ve completed the State of Illinois 40-hour Domestic Violence training as well as the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault 40-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention training. My experience has included working in a domestic violence program, crisis center, community college, and a medical center.
I look forward to working together!
